Can Donald Trump recover from this? A video recording with obscene remarks by the billionaire about women is making waves in the USA - and that just before the very important second television duel with Hillary Clinton.

In the US presidential election campaign, Donald Trump came under massive pressure due to a newly surfaced scandalous video. The Republican candidate felt compelled to apologize to his compatriots because of vulgar remarks about women.

"I said it. It was wrong. I apologize, "Trump said in a taped message that his campaign headquarters made public that night.

The video recorded over ten years ago with lewd and derogatory remarks by Trump about women made waves in the United States. Leading Republican politicians, whose most important target group and voter group include devout Christians, also distanced themselves from the 70-year-old.

A joint appearance with the powerful chairman of the House of Representatives, Paul Ryan, was canceled. Some Republicans, including former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman, called on Trump to step down as a presidential candidate.

"If you are a star, they allow it"

US media spoke of a “bomb explosion” during the election campaign, from which Trump may not be able to recover. Commentator Bob Beckel said on CNN: “This campaign is over. There is no longer a race for the presidency. "

The stumbling block published on Friday by the Washington Post dates back to 2005: The video shows how Trump, who was already married to his current wife Melania at the time, describes in drastic terms his attempt to seduce another woman.

"I tackled them, but failed," he says. He tried to «f ***** her. She was married." He had tackled her unrestrainedly (“like a bitch”), but without success. In the meantime, the - unspecified - woman has "completely changed her appearance". Trump's description: "She now has big artificial t ***** and everything."

The real estate mogul then goes on to say that he is “automatically” drawn to beautiful women. «I just start kissing her (...). I don't even wait. And if you're a star, then they let it be. You can do everything." He could even grab women between the legs (and they let it happen).

Harsh criticism from the Republicans too

The video can be heard from excerpts from a private conversation between Trump and the presenter of the infotainment television program “Access Hollywood”, Billy Bush, during a bus trip.

Hillary Clinton himself called Trump's remarks at the time "terrible" and appealed to the electorate: "We must not allow this man to become president."

Leading Republicans also sharply condemned Trump's statements. They made him nauseous, said House chief Ryan, according to the Washington Post. "I hope that Mr Trump will treat the situation with the seriousness it demands and that he will work to demonstrate to the country that he has greater respect for women than this (video) clip shows."

Next debate on Sunday evening

Clinton and Trump will meet for their second televised debate in St. Louis on Sunday evening (local time). According to independent assessments, the Democrat had clearly won the first at the end of September. After that, she gained in polls, increasing the pressure on Trump to do well in the second TV duel.

After that, there will only be one final televised debate before voting on November 8th.

Clinton five percent ahead of Trump

Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump by five percentage points in the latest Reuters / Ipsos poll. This means that the gap between the former foreign minister and the businessman has remained practically the same since the beginning of September. According to the latest poll, 43 percent of voters would currently vote for Clinton and 38 percent for Trump.

Where did the Americans look when they made Trump a candidate? There are no suitable people living in the 50 US states who could run the presidency. It's a shame that Republican Ted Cruz wasn't nominated as a candidate.

That he expresses himself as a "man" is one thing. It doesn't matter whether this was said 20 years ago, 10 years ago, or yesterday. It shows his attitude towards other people, especially women in this case. As a billionaire he can afford such "sayings". It is worrying that the Republicans (have to) send such a person into the election campaign for the office of US President. A regular chat as US President .... The world can only hope that this does not happen.
